The U.S. House voted Wednesday to pass a defense policy bill with nearly $452 million to fund upgrades at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

The U.S. has a 123 agreement with Saudi Arabia’s regional neighbor, the United Arab Emirates, though in the 2009 deal it agreed to forgo enriching uranium domestically or reprocessing the spent atomic fuel. This has since become known as the “gold standard” for civilian nuclear cooperation.

"If ever there was an issue that I believe can capture the widest net in Congress, but also in this country, it’s about kids," Sen. Andy Kim said.

President Trump said on Thursday the deal would include no enrichment of nuclear material.
